Was it really better? (Casey)

So after we all watched the Jazz totally put there tails between there legs and just stare at the Spurs as they beat them down it makes you wonder these two questions. Was it really worth it for the Jazz to get into the playoffs? And if so, what did the Jazz really gain in playoff experience from the total beatdowns that they took at the hands on the Spurs? My quick thought is they gained very little from being in the playoffs and they learned very little. Its always good to see your team win but at what cost? You were in the playoffs for 4 games and you not only got swept but you lost your 2 possible lottery picks and your young guys gained nothing in fact they struggled mightly the entire series. Now granted Favors played well but we all knew how good he could be and will be down the road. So just think about it and tell me what you think.

  1. I just want to comment because I love you guys! I think that since the Jazz lost the Stockton to Malone they have struggled. I'm a really flaky fan though and haven't really watched them since then. I do however think that if you are to make it to something like the play offs, its not worth it unless you put up a fight and gave it your all.

  2. That's the problem... did the Jazz give it their all? If they did then we have a long way to go to reach the level of the Spurs. The good thing that i can see coming out of this playoff series is that the Jazz saw exactly where they are on the totem pole... coach corbin got to run a bunch of trials, especially with line-ups. The team got to see that they need to work a lot harder throughout the whole year, not just when you're already down by ten. Some good can come of this, next time you won't be so wide-eyed and will know what playoff intensity is. On to next year... Still hope that Golden State loses out still though. Until next year (Tyler)

  3. The teams that have the most playoff experience always seem to do better from one year to the next. So gaining some playoff experience isn't a complete waste. A lottery pick would have been awfully nice though.

  4. The Jazz proved more to me just trying to make the playoffs than actually playing in them. I saw fight. I saw some get up and go. They acted as though they had purpose to buckle down and get the job done. I enjoyed those last games. The rest of the year. . . i can't say that i saw much of that. That is what Stockton and Malone brought every night on the court. Old school hard ball all the time. That is just how the older generations are even still today. The younger guys all are women that worry about if they brake a nail then thier value goes down cause they won't be able to get the next big contract. Oh he looked at me the wrong way, or he said the wrong thing. It's like sports have almost turned into the WWE! Come on boys. That's what makes NCAA sports so so so sweet. They still just get out there and give it thier all. It's for glory not money. It's for the memory. It's for the that good ol fashion trophy. It's for pride. It's for your own respect.
