Who has the best? QB's (Casey)

College Football season is getting closer and closer. Fall camps will be opening here in the state in about two weeks and I for one can't wait! So as the teams are going through there summer conditioning and have made it through spring camp I wanted to do a little breakdown of each FBS team here in the state, and I wanted to do it position by position. But this isn't just me breaking them down and everyone agreeing with me, I want to know what all of you think as well, So as I break each position down using the listed starters from Spring (So after fall things could change) I wanna know what your thoughts are. So lets start with the Quarterback position.

BYU's Taysom Hill

Taysom Hill is a Sophomore out of Pocatello Idaho, He is 6' 2" tall and comes in at 218lbs and is mobile. During Taysom's Senior year In High school he was a 5A(Idaho) All-Idaho Player of the year and racked up 2,269 yards passing with 18 touchdowns. He also rushed for 1,491 yards and 24 touchdowns and averaged 123.4 yards per game. During his freshman year at BYU Taysom went 2-0 as a starter leading the Cougars to wins over Hawaii and in state rival Utah State before injuring his knee on the last play of the game against the Aggies on a stupid miscommunication with the BYU sideline. Before his injury however Taysom played in 6 games overall and went 42 of 71 for 425 yards and 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He also rushed 55 times for 336 yards and 4 touchdowns. After Spring ball, Taysom is ready to be BYU's starter and lead the Cougars forward during what is going to be the hardest schedule any Cougar Quarterback has ever faced.

Utah's Travis Wilson
Travis Wilson is a Sophomore out of San Clemente California, He is 6' 6" tall and weighs 240lbs and is mobile. Coming out of High school Travis was ranked the 11th best QB by rivals.com. In high school he also set school records in passing yards (4,375) and total offense (5,244). His Senior year Travis threw for 2,289 yards and 24 touchdowns, he also ran for 467 yards and 9 touchdowns. It was a mess up on the hill at the quarterback position and as a freshman at the University of Utah Travis played in twelve games and started the last seven and went 3-4 overall. In his 12 games played Travis went 128 of 204 for 1,311 yards and 7 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. He also rushed the ball 64 times for 40 yards. But this year as the clear cut starter and with a new Offensive Coordinator I think Travis should do just fine for the Utes.

Utah State's Chuckie Keeton
Chuckie Keeton is a Junior out of Houston Texas, He is 6' 2" and weighed in at 200lbs and is a mobile threat. Since Chuckie has been around for a while now we don't really need to go into his High School accomplishments. Chuckie played in nine games as a freshman for the Aggies and started 8 before being injured. In those nine game Chuckie threw for 1,200 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also rushed for 293 yards and 4 touchdowns. He only threw 2 interceptions all year and was the last FBS quarterback to throw a pick that year. That year as well Chuckie almost beat the defending BCS champs in Auburn on there home field and only lost on a late touchdown by Mike Dyer with 30 seconds to go to lose 42-38. Chuckie only got better after that and during his sophomore year he started all 13 games and went 275 of 407 for 3,373 yards and 27 touchdowns with nine interceptions and rushed for 619 yards and eight touchdowns. He was named to the First team all WAC and ranked 17th nationally in total offense. As of now Chuckie holds the Utah State records for completion percentage with .656%, and is fouth all time in total touchdown with 38. There is no doubt in Logan who will be starting and how good he will be even with a new head coach because that head coach used to be his Offensive Coordinator.

Winner: Utah State and Chuckie Keeton

In my mind there is no argument, Chuckie Keeton is by far the best! He has the speed, poise, arm, and smarts to make it to the NFL in my mind and should help this Utah State team to another possible 10 win season and another Bowl victory. Not to say that Taysom Hill or Travis Wilson couldn't have a special season its the simple fact that Keeton is seasoned and ready to make an even bigger name for himself in a better conference (Mountain West) and with a tougher schedule.

So let me know what you think and if you agree or disagree. Lets hear an argument on why the QB you picked is the best in the State!

  1. I like Chuck keeton the best too right now and with that said I think he will be better this year. I believe taysom hill has a lot of upside though especially with anae bank at the helm of offensive coordinator it will be a fun year in the state

  2. I agree as well that Keeton is the best right now. I think Taysom is probably he second best, but he needs a bit more time to prove himself. Give him a year or two more under Anae and he could easily b something special.

Casey my question is what about Weber and SUU?

  3. The most I know about Weber and SUU is they were picked to finish 9th(SUU) and 12th(Weber)Big Sky but other than that I'm not really sure to tell you the truth. I thought about doing those teams too but changed my mind to only focus on the FBS schools in the state.
